Purple Opal, also known as Morado Opal, is a variety of Opal that was recently discovered in central Mexico in 2011. This particular type of Opal crystallizes in the form of masses and nodules without the usual “fire” one thinks when seeing Opal. The purple within this mineral is actually caused by very small Fluorite and Silica inclusions. Purple Opal is thought to help with physical ailments. Healers use purple opal to treat and manage respiratory ailments and lung damage. It can also be used to treat health conditions such as allergies and asthma as well. Whatever the reason may be to add this to your collection, it makes a beautiful addition to your rock collection, any space in your home, or even your office.
