The purple color of Morado opal is caused by small fluorite inclusions. These lower the hardness of the material some what, and causes it to require care in cutting. Display not included.
The fluorite gives some pieces a blue to purple fluorescence under a shortwave ultraviolet lamp or light. Also some of the pieces fluoresce a bright green color which suggests that there is a presence of uranium.
