How to Clean Quartz Crystals?

Quartz crystal cleaning powder. Oxalic acid is a crystalline solid that forms a colorless solution when water is added. This product is what is used in our commercial operation. Instructions are mailed with the product and found below.

Oxalic Acid is a mild cleaning solution that is most effective for removing rust and mud stains from quartz crystals. It is recommended that you clean your crystals outside or in a well-ventilated area. Rubber gloves may be used when placing and removing crystals in the acid solution. One box of baking soda will neutralize 6 gallons of the solution for disposal.

COOL PROCESS: Remove as much dirt from crystals as possible. This can be done with plain water and a soft brush. The cleaner your crystals are when you process them, the more times you can reuse your solution.

Mix a 2-pound bag of oxalic acid powder with 6 gallons of water in a plastic container with a cover. Place rinsed crystals in the solution, making sure that the crystals are completely covered with the liquid.

Cover the container and set it in the sun for approximately 3 days.

Remove crystals from the solution and rinse well.

You may now reuse the solution to clean more crystals. Depending on how clean your crystals were when they were processed, the solution can be used 5 to 6 times.

Remove cooled crystals from the solution and rinse well.
