This is a Novaculite slice that is uniform in size. Because it is a natural stone, you will notice there may be a variance in colors.
Arkansas Novaculite is a rock that has been used by residents of Arkansas for years. It is a microcrystalline sedimentary rock. Like other cherts and flints, novaculite is primarily composed of silica. It is also known as Arkansas stone.
Novaculite is found only in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma. American Indians living in this region considered it an essential raw material for manufacturing sharp-edged, durable tools. Novaculite was quarried from outcrops on mountain ridges.
