Pyrite has been commonly nick named as "Fools Gold". Pyrite's gold color, metallic sheen, and high specific gravity has often caused it to get mistaken as gold. However, Pyrite is commonly associated with gold. The two minerals have often formed together, and in some deposits, Pyrite can contain enough included gold to warrant mining.
