Mexican purple opal rough, unpolished, uncut rock sold by the pound. This specimen is also known as Morado Opal and Opal Royale. Purple Opals are considered very rare. The purple color is occasionally found in Precious Opals in Australia and Ethiopia, but most of the Purple Opals that you can find on the market are Common Opals for Jalisco Mexico.
Nicknamed “Grade Opals” these pretty gemstones range in color from dark blue to pastel lavender and are usually mixed with pure White Opal. Color tones will vary beige, blue, pink, tan. This stone is beautiful when tumbled, polished and wire wrapped. Did you know Mexican purple opal is beautiful when used in jewelry. This is a natural rock specimen.
