Ron Coleman Mining, a proud 5th-generation, family-owned quartz crystal mining company near Hot Springs, Arkansas, is renowned for producing some of the world's most pristine crystals. While we take pride in our work, we believe the true credit lies with the natural forces that have shaped these remarkable stones over millions of years. Our commitment to sustainability ensures that our mine will continue to produce for generations to come.
A Tradition of Excellence
For decades, Ron Coleman Mining has been a cornerstone of the Arkansas mining industry. The Coleman family first leased the mine and, in the 1980s, Ron Coleman took the helm by purchasing the land, expanding the operation into a thriving commercial quartz mining business. In 1991, Ron opened a public digging area, allowing visitors to unearth their own beautiful quartz crystals and take home as much as they could carry. Recognizing the need for affordable accommodations, he added Crystal Ridge RV Park, providing a convenient, budget-friendly place for miners and families to stay.
In 2014, Kevin and Kathy Coleman, along with their sons, Alexander and Josh, purchased the property, continuing the family's legacy of dedication to mining excellence. While Ron may be retired, his passion for the industry keeps him active at the mine, where he assists our commercial mining team. The Coleman family also participates in major events like the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show and the Quartzsite Mineral Shows, showcasing their crystals to enthusiasts around the world. The sixth generation, Kynlee and Penelope, are already growing up at the mine, contributing to the family business.
The Famous Berns Quartz
In 2021, Ron Coleman Mining made history when a colossal 8,000-pound quartz crystal cluster, known as the Berns Quartz, was unearthed and later displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
