Please note that all Smokey Quartz in this collection are heat-treated.  The quartz was mined as transparent or opaque quartz at Ron Coleman Mining and treated/enhanced.  Enhanced smoky quartz is quartz crystals that have been treated with gamma technology to change the natural color of the specimens from clear/white to black.  The 36-hour enhancement process burns the aluminum within the mineral but does not make the quartz radioactive.  It is the same heat process used to sterilize medical equipment.
