This black beauty is white quartz that was mined at Ron Coleman Mining in Jessieville, Arkansas and enhanced to bring out the charming black to gray color tones.  Enhancement is a heat process.  It is heated to the point the aluminum within the specimen is burned out and causes the beautiful black color.  This smokey quartz is also known as irradiated smokey quartz. However, the technology used to treat the quartz is the same processed used to sanitize medical tools.   Our smokey quartz is treated in the USA.

Notice the characteristics in this rock specimen.  Areas of the quartz have small crystal points and then at the end you have a larger cluster of crystal points.  Use your mouse to roll over the entire specimen.

Approximate measurements: 2.75 inches tall by 6.5 inches long by 5 inches wide.
