How is sandstone prepared for painting? Clean the sandstone of any dirt and debris. Use a cloth to remove any loose particles. Please remember that sandstone is a delicate specimen and can be scratched.  Scratching the sandstone will affect the surface.  Apply a coat of neutral-colored primer and allow it to dry according to the package instructions.

Most have the hardware for hanging on the wall.
