Our Arkansas crystal mine is open to the public only in our public digging area. The commercial mine is subject to MSHA regulations and is not accessible.
Nestled in the Ouachita Mountains just outside Hot Springs National Park, Ron Coleman Mine offers a unique and memorable experience for rockhounds of all ages. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned gem hunter, you'll love digging through our 4-acre public tailings area in search of quartz treasures. Mining in Arkansas is one reason we are known as the Natural State.

Open 362 Days Each Year (Closed only on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas)
Current Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Last entry at 3:30 p.m.)
No reservation required. Please check in at our Gift Shop, pay your fee, and proceed to the digging area (our gift shop and mine are NOT located directly on Highway 7)
Daily Crystal Digging Fees:
- Adults (15–54): $25
- Seniors (55+): $20
- Children (6-14): $6
- Children 5 and under: FREE (Group rate applies for field trips)

Tools & Equipment
We do not rent tools; however, you are welcome to bring a small hand shovel, gloves, and safety glasses. We sell tools in our gift shop.
⚠️ Prohibited Tools: Pickaxe, sledgehammers, power tools (battery/gas-powered)
On-Site Training & Support
Our friendly staff will guide you through the rules, show you what to look for, and answer any questions you may have. Remember to move after 10 minutes if you are not finding crystals. They are there, but it's a little like fishing; you need to see that honey hole.

Pet-Friendly Policy for Digging Area
Well-socialized (does not bark at other dogs or people), leashed dogs are welcome in our digging area (it's crazy to need to say this, but the owner must be holding the leash). Please bring waste bags and ensure your pet does not disturb others.
