This elephant figurine has been hand carved in a walking stride position, out of what is called banded Onyx. The layered colors are cream, orange, green, and brown. The colors meshed together give it a layered look.
Banded Onyx is formed out of layers of Chalcedony in alternating colors. Agate and Onyx are both a variety of this mineral. The different bands of colors can range from many different hues and shades.
