How is black obsidian made/formed?  Black obsidian is formed from magma.  It is an ingenous rock.  You will note there appears to be a film on the outside of the rock. When it is cut or broken, you will see the shiny interior.   It can also be polished and or tumbled. 

Obsidian is the stone of the gentle, sensitive and softhearted people of the world. Meditating with Obsidian is said to be able to take you on a journey that leads you to a place of an inner ‘Flooding of Light’ illuminating the darker corners of unresolved past issues.

Cleaning Instructions: You can clean this gently with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Rinse then pat dry.
