Natural Purple Opal is a variety of your typical Opal, except it has a vibrant and deep purple color, unlike common opals.  The purple color within the stone results from Fluorite and Silica inclusions.  Purple Opal crystallizes in the form of nodules and masses.  Also, Purple Opal has a 4.5 to 5.5 hardness on the Mohs Scale.

The category a Purple Opal falls into is a Mineraloid, which is also included in the Amorphous crystal system.  Its luster is Sub vitreous to waxy, and its diaphaneity is opaque, translucent, and transparent.

This would be a gorgeous addition to any rock collector's addition or to use as decor for any space in your home or office.
