Purple Opal, also known as Morado Opal, is a variety of Opal recently discovered in central Mexico in 2011. This particular type of Opal crystallizes in the form of masses and nodules without the usual “fire” one thinks of when seeing Opal.  Very small Fluorite and Silica inclusions cause the purple within this mineral.    

Whatever the reason for adding this to your collection, it makes a beautiful addition to your rock collection, any space in your home, or even your office.
