Peridot is the August birthstone. It is an Olivine stone. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that only occurs in one color. Peridot can be found in mafic and ultramafic rocks occurring in lava.
You can already guess why this stone was named Leopard skin. Another fact is that Leopard skin Jasper is a silicon dioxide with various inclusion that create its desirable patterns. Jasper, in general, are varieties of the quartz family that may contain up to 20 percent foreign materials or inclusions, including organic material and mineral oxides.
