Phantoms are formed when mineral deposits occur during an interruption in growth of a crystal.

Phantoms have manganese inclusions that resemble a smaller, dark crystal trapped within a larger, clear crystal.

Phantom Quartz is both rare and highly prized by collectors.

 We highly recommend our guests take the time to inspect every characteristic of the quartz crystals they unearth at our Arkansas quartz mine.  Like snowflakes, no quartz crystal is the same.  Each quartz crystal will have unique characteristics.  In addition to unearthing your own quartz, inspecting each crystal, after it is thoroughly cleaned, is SO much fun!  Yes, you could actually unearth a phantom.
