This figurine is made out of polished rock containing million year old Orthocera fossils. Orthocera fossils are the remains of a invertebrate, an animal that does not have a backbone, that belongs to the Phylum Molluska family. This is a broad grouping that includes: snails, slugs, oysters, clams, octopus, and squid.

 An Orthocera is what's known as Nautiloid that is from the Devonian period of the Paleozoic era from millions of years ago.

You can find Orthoceras around the world from marine deposits. Common locations are Iowa, Morocco, Scandanavia, and the Alps. 


Measurements are approximately: 4.5 inches tall, 7 inches in length, & .75 of an inch wide.

 Variants very from black and grey to brown and tan also.
