Herkimer diamonds are not perfectly matched. Because these necklaces have natural stones, there will be a variance in size and the amount of carbon in each stone. If you're not familiar with the term "salt and pepper", it is used to describe a stone with visible manganese.
Herkimer quartz is only found in Herkimer, New York. The black you see in the images is manganese. This natural salt-and-pepper look is highly coveted in Herkimer jewelry.
