Pyrite, also known as fool's gold. It is an iron sulfide type of mineral. It is a little more durable than its counterpart, its Mohs hardness is 6-6.5. Its crystal patterns vary. They can be octahedral, cubic, or pyritohedral. Its name, Pyrite, comes from Greece and means fire. Pyrite received its name because hitting two pieces of pyrite together will create a spark.
