This is a relatively rare variety of obsidian.  This volcanic obsidian green glass freeform is from Mexico.  This special type of obsidian can also be found in Oregon, Greece, and New Mexico. Green obsidian is formed when the cooling of the silica-rich lava is rapidly sped up.  The crystals cannot form, which in turn creates the glass-like texture.

Not only will this gorgeous piece of green obsidian make an excellent statement, but it also has metaphysical properties. It is believed to be a protective stone and to support emotional healing. It also helps with releasing negative energy and promotes self-acceptance.
